1683.                                       APPENDIX.

surveyor's fee to be 8lb. tobacco, for each lot, to be paid by the taker-up.  (9.)  In
case the taker-up of any lot, should refuse or neglect to build within the time by
this act appointed, any person whatsoever, might take up the same, paying the
tobacco first set on such lot, to the commissioners aforesaid, of that county, or to
the person by them appointed to receive the same, for the use and benefit of the 

said town.  Provided such second taker-up, begin to build such house, as in this act
is limited, within one month after such his entry, and finish the same within six
months; which house so built, shall give and settle an estate of inheritance of him,
and his heirs for ever, in the said lot.  (10.)  In case any lots be neglected to be taken
up, during five years, from the proclaiming of this act, then shall the owners of
the land be possessed of such lots, as in their first and former estate, &c. &c.
    Additional and supplementary acts were 1684, ch. 2.  1686, ch. 2, and 1688, ch. 6.

At a Session of Assembly, begun and held at the City of St.
    Mary's, on the 1st of April, in the 9th year of the Dominion
    of Charles, &c. Annoq. Domini 1684, and ended
    the 26th day of the same month, the following laws were
    enacted.

                            HIS LORDSHIP IN PERSON.

                                          CHAP. I.
An act for payment and assessing the public charges of this province.

                                         CHAP. II.
An additional and supplementary act to the * Act for advancement
                            of trade.  LIb. WH. fol.. 259.
    By this act (1.)  on petition of several inhabitants, &c. praying for more ports,
&c. the towns, &c. hereafter mentioned, are added to the former, in the original
act named, to be ports and places, equally with the said others, for importing and
exporting, &c. viz.
    St. Mary's County,                At Britton's Neck, between Britton's Bay and St.
                                                        Clement's Bay.
                                                     At Westwood, on the land of Mr. Thomas Gerrard,
                                                        at the head of Wiccocomico river.
    Anne-Arundel County,        At West River, upon the land of John Hillen, deceased,
                                                        and the land thereunto adjacent.
    Calvert County,                      At Calvert-town, in Battle Creek.
                                                      At Pig point, upon Mount-Calvert Manor, in Patuxent
                                                         River.
    Charles County,                     At the head of Port-Tobacco creek, near the church
                                                          there.
                                                      At the mouth of Nanjemy creek, at or near Lewis's
                                                          neck.
    Baltimore County,                   At Middle-river, on the land of Cornwallis, or Leakins,
                                                          or both, at the discretion of the commissioners.
    Somerset County,                    At or near Tipquin, on the South side of Nantikoke
                                                            river.
                                                        At some convenient place betwixt the going into
                                                            Selby's Bay, and Cornelius Jones's land, in Assateague
                                                            Bay, on the sea-board side, at the discretion
                                                            of the commissioners.
    Dorchester County,                At Daniel Jones's plantation, on the south-side of
                                                             Great Choptank.
    Cecil County,                           At the plantation, called John West, in Sassafras river.
