                                            CHAP. LXXII.
An Act to authorise the laying out a public Road from the Widow
    Robinson's Gate across Randall and Dobbin's Milldam, to intersect
    the Mountain Road at or near the Methodist Meeting-House, in
    Anne-Arundel County.

CHAP. 71.

Passed Jan. 8, 1803.

    WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly by the
petition of sundry inhabitants of Anne-Arundel county, that they
labour under great inconvenience for want of a public road from the
widow Robinson's gate to lead over Randall and Dobbin's mill
dam till it intersects the mountain road at or near the Methodist
meeting-house, and praying that a law may pass for that purpose;
and the prayer of the petitioners being reasonable, therefore,
Preamble.
    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
Francis Cromwell, Ephraim Duvall and Nathan Hancock, or
any two of them, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners
to lay out a public road beginning at the widow Robinson's gate,
and to run in a direction so as to cross over Randall and Dobbin's
milldam, and to intersect the mountain road at or near the Methodist
meeting-house; and in laying out the said road, the said commissioners
are directed to take into view, as well the disadvantages
which may result to individuals over whose land the said road may
run, as the convenience of the public, so as to lay out the said road
with as little injury to private property as will comport with the 
public convenience.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners, or any
two of them, be and they are hereby further directed to return a
plot of said road, so by them laid out, to the clerk's office of said
county, to be there recorded; and the levy court may, at their discretion,
after the return of said plot as aforesaid, appoint a supervisor
to open the same, and shall levy a sum of money, not exceeding
eighty dollars, for that purpose; and the said road, when opened
as aforesaid, shall be taken for, and is hereby declared to be a
public road in said county, and may be repaired as other public
roads are repaired in said county; Provided nevertheless, that nothing
herein contained shall authorise the said supervisor to open
the said road, or the levy court to levy any sum of money for that purpose,
until the assent of every person through whose land the said
road may pass be first had and obtained, under the hand of every
such person, and returned to the levy court aforesaid; And provided
also, that nothing herein contained shall in any manner authorise
the said commissioners to lay out the said road through the lands
of any infant, or person non compos mentis.

    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners appointed in
virtue of this act shall be entitled to an allowance of two dollars for
every day they shall severally attend in discharge of the duties
herein imposed.
