            INDEX TO THE LAWS.
 

    Convicts escaping and found in this state, to be deemed
fugitive felons, and confined in the penitentiary for
the residue of their term, but may be delivered upon
demand,
    Directions for the removal of convicts to the penitentiary
by the sheriff, and penalty for neglect,
—Their clothing and treatment prescribed,

—To be admitted as witnesses in all cases where any
person confined in the penitentiary may be accused, &c.

    In any house—punishment for burning,

    Provisions concerning defaults against coroners, &c.
in the late county courts,
    The bond or recognizance of a coroner may be taken
by any judge of a district, or justice of the peace,
    Coroners, on serving ca. sa. bound to accept payment
—plaintiffs to have the same remedy against them
as on fieri facias,
    Provision made in case of the death of a coroner after
goods, &c. are taken in execution,

—Directions as to notice of sales,

    Directions for the amercement of coroners neglecting
to make returns, &c.
    Fees to coroners on inquests,
    Provision made for the conveyance of process to coroners,
&c. and the return,
    Accounts for inquests in Baltimore to be examined
by the judges of the city court,

    Of negroes, &c. directed on conviction of crimes
as therein mentioned,

    Offenders escaping from the penitentiary, to suffer
on conviction, such corporal punishment not extending
to life or limb, as the criminal court of Baltimore
shall direct,
    Corporal punishment may be inflicted on offenders
in the penitentiary by order of the inspectors,
    Corporal punishment to be inflicted on slaves in Baltimore,
convicted of cruelty to animals,

    The elders of Zion Church, in Baltimore county,
    The committee of the Presbyterian Church in Snow
Hill, in Worcester county,
    The trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Churches
of the city of Baltimore,
    The president and directors of the Baltimore and Harford
Bridge Company,
    The 22d article of the act of 1794, ch. 39, to incorporate
the Baltimore Equitable Society for insuring
houses from fire, repealed, &c.
    The president, managers and company, of the Allegany
Turnpike Road,
    The trustees of the Roman Catholic Congregation at
Saint Joseph's Church, in Saint Mary's county,
    Supplements to the act to establish and incorporate
a Medical and Chirugical Faculty, &c.
    Taney Town Library Company,

    Persons incorporated in every christian church or
congregation, &c.

    The trustees of the Centreville Academy, in Queen-Anne's
county,
    The Saint Martin's Navigation Company,
