CONTINUANCE
CONTINUANCE |
INDEX TO THE LAWS.
—The mayor, &c. to make returns to the presiding
judges, who shall compute and receive as a part of the
votes taken at any such election, the returns so made
to them,
—All such parts of the constitution as are repugnant
to this act, repealed,
The number and limits of election
districts in the
city of Baltimore, shall always be the same as the
wards therein,
—An act to alter such parts of the declaration of
rights and constitution, as relate to the administration
of oaths in certain cases,
—An act to alter such parts of the constitution as relate
to appointments to offices of profit and trust by
the governor and council, making it the duty of the
governor to nominate, and by and with the advice and
consent of the council appoint, all such officers as
are directed to be appointed by the executive,
The amendment proposed by congress
to the several
states, respecting the manner of electing the president
and vice president, ratified,
—Same as to the amendment prohibiting the acceptance
of titles of nobility,*
A lazaretto to be erected near Patapsco
for persons
infected with malignant contagious diseases,
Means to prevent the introduction
of contagious disorders
by criminals sent to the penitentiary,
Authorised of certain causes in the
court of appeals,
—Where a rule to give security for costs is laid at
the trial court,
Actions of ejectment, &c. to be
continued on the death
of a party, for the appearance of the heir, &c.
The court of appeals authorised to
continue any
cause then depending during November term 1802,
No action in the court of appeals
to continue longer
than the end of the fourth court after the same shall
have been instituted, unless by consent of parties, at
the
discretion of the court,
A continuance authorised in the county
courts
to the end of the third term after the usual time,
to enable executors or administrators to plead the
new matter,
Continuance of causes transferred
from the former
court of appeals and general court,
No action to continue longer than
the end of the first
court after the imparlance court, unless with consent
of
parties, at the discretion of the court, or for such
cause
as the law heretofore allowed,
—Proviso as to suits transferred from the late general
court to the county court,
A continuance not to be allowed on
an amendment
in the proceedings, unless the court shall be satisfied
that it is necessary,
Petitions for the benefit of the insolvent
acts not to be
continued beyond the first court next after the filing
thereof, unless thought necessary by the court for further
testimony,
At the November and December sessions
of the
court of appeals, to be held as therein directed, all
suits, &c. to be continued over to the June sessions,
