INDEX TO THE LAWS.
—The elections directed to be held on the first Monday
day in October 1806, and in every second year thereafter,
at the places therein prescribed,

January 1835, &c. provided that the said bank is
not
released from the terms and conditions prescribed by
the act of 1813, ch. 122,

Their duty prescribed, as to attachments

the penalty of 800 dollars, on a copy of which an action

case of original warrants, with the same fees, and under
the same penalties,

sa at the county gaol, to the sheriff or gaoler,

of this act, (respecting free negroes, &c.)
Constables prohibited from purchasing
any debt due
from a person residing in his hundred, unless assigned
for a bona fide debt before due,
Constables may be fined by the justice
on neglect to
make returns of executions under the act of 1801, ch.
62,
—The fine to be levied by execution,
—A future day to be fixed, (not exceeding 14 days,)
and on failure, judgment may be entered against
them, and their securities, for debt and costs,
—Judgment may be entered against them after proof
of a demand, on failing to produce the defendant taken
on a ca. sa,
—Execution thereon to be directed to the sheriff or
a constable,
Constables satisfying the plaintiff,
to have the same
remedy against the defendant,
Duty prescribed as to persons retailing
spirituous liquors
without license,
—Penalty for neglect,
Constables empowered, on warrant,
to take up free
negroes, &c. carrying guns or other offensive weapons,
unless they have certificates of being orderly, |
