CHARLES RIDGELY, OF HAMPTON, ESQ. GOVERNOR.

entitled to all the benefits, privileges, immunities, powers and authorities,
given to them by the act of assembly passed November
session seventeen hundred and ninety-seven, chapter twenty-eight,
and the several supplements thereto, in as full and ample a manner
as if they had regularly from time to time made their elections under
the provisions of said act and its several supplements; Provided
always,
that the first election for commissioners be held on the first
Monday of March next, and on the first Monday of March in
each and every year for ever thereafter.

Proviso.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That from and after the passage of
this law the said two towns shall be considered as one, and shall be
known and called by the name of Millington.

                                    CHAP. CXCVII.
An Act to confirm and make valid the Proceedings of the Levy Court
    of Calvert County since the year eighteen hundred and fourteen,
    and for other purposes.

Passed Feb. 14, 1818.
    WHEREAS, the court-house of Calvert county was destroyed by
the enemy in the year eighteen hundred and fourteen, and doubts
are entertained as to the legality of the proceedings of said court,
therefore,
Preamble.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
all proceedings  of the said court since that period be and the same
are hereby confirmed and made valid.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of Calvert county
be and they are hereby authorised and empowered, at any time before
the first day of April eighteen hundred and eighteen, to nominate
and recommend to the governor and council, inspectors of tobacco
for the several inspection warehouses in Calvert county, any
law to the contrary notwithstanding.

                                        CHAP. CXCVIII.
An Act to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire
            with the present Session.

Passed Feb. 14, 1818.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
all such acts, and parts of acts of assembly, as would expire with
the present session, except an act, entitled, An act for the temporary
relief of the poor in the several counties in this state, passed
December session eighteen hundred and sixteen*, be and the same
are hereby continued until the twentieth day of November next,
and until the end of the next session of assembly which shall happen
thereafter.

                                         CHAP. CXCIX.
An Act to continue in force the Acts of Assembly relating to Coroners and
    Sheriffs, passed at November Session
1799, ch. 91.  Lib. TH. No.
    6, fol. 130.

Passed Feb. 14, 1818.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
in case of the death, resignation, refusal or disqualification, of any
sheriff, between the first day of January, and the first day of March
in any year, and the person appointed and commissioned to succeed
him hath not, or shall not take the oaths required by law, and give
bond, before the first day of March, then and in every such case it
shall and may be lawful for the officers of the several courts of law
and equity in this state, who may have fees for collection within
Officers, in certain
cases allowed further
time to deliver
fees to sheriffs.
