1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the register of the land office for the western shore be, and he
hereby is authorised and directed, to enter amongst the records of
the said land office the certificate now in the said office, purporting
to be of a survey of a tract or parcel of land commonly called Lord
Baltimore's Manor, on the Great Glades, containing seventeen
thousand seven hundred and fifty acres, lying formerly in Frederick,
but now in Allegany county, and dated the eighth day of
May, in the year one thousand seven hundred and sixty-eight,
made in pursuance of a special order from the then governor, for
his Lordship the Right Honourable Frederick, Lord Baron of
Baltimore, and signed by Francis Deakins, then one of the deputy
surveyors, and that an attested copy under seal, of the said certificate,
or of the record to be made thereof as aforesaid, shall have
the same effect and validity, to all intents and purposes, as the
said original would have if produced and proved. |

An Act to provide for Schools, and for the promotion of Education,

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
William Potter, Richard Hughlett and Elisha Dawson, of Caroline
county, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and
they, or a majority of them, shall have full power and authority
to lay out and divide said county into school sections, of not
greater dimensions than equal to a space of six miles square, regulating
the size and boundary lines of said sections by natural objects,
roads, and local circumstances, as in the opinion of said
commissioners shall be most beneficial and convenient for the inhabitants
of the several sections. |

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That said commissioners
when they
shall so have divided the said county into sections, shall cause a
return to be drawn up in writing, signed by said commissioners,
or a majority of them, describing particularly and distinctly the
limits of each of said sections, and designating them respectively
by numbers from one in progressive succession, and shall lodge
said return with the clerk of the county, whose duty it shall be
forthwith to record the same among the land records of the county,
and a copy of said return, under the hand and official seal of
said clerk, shall be good and sufficient evidence in the courts of
justice in this state, as well as out thereof, of the location and
boundaries of said respective sections. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That said commissioners,
as soon as
they shall have divided said county into sections, and made a return
thereof, and caused the same to be recorded as aforesaid, shall
appoint five of the most discreet and sensible men of each section, |
