CHARLES RIDGELY, OF HAMPTON, ESQ. GOVERNOR.

and Bank Company, or deposited in the bank for collection, shall
on the face of it be negotiable or payable at the said bank, notice
given at the bank, by any officer thereof, or by a notary, that such
note hath become due, or that it is unpaid, shall be to all intents
and purposes held and considered as sufficient to bind the drawer,
acceptor, and endorsers of such note or bill, as if notice had been
personally served on each of them.

CHAP. 175.

    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the duty of the said
president and directors, and they are hereby authorised, out of the
funds of said company, to cause the bridge now erecting by them,
over the Susquehanna, after the same shall be completed, to be
kept at all times in sufficient repair, so as to be convenient and safe
for passengers and carriages passing over the same; and if the said
president and directors shall permit the said bridge, or any part
thereof, to be out of repair, after reasonable notice, and shall
thereof be convict on indictment before the county court of Harford
or Cecil county, the Susquehanna Bridge and Bank Company
shall forfeit and pay such sum, not exceeding one thousand dollars,
to the use of such county, as the court before whom such indictment
shall be tried shall adjudge.

    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the president and directors of the
Susquehanna Bridge and Bank Company aforesaid, shall have
power, and they are hereby authorised to appoint, such and so
many officers and agents as they, or a majority of them, shall deem
necessary for the erection and preservation and improvement of
said bridge, and for attending to conducting and transacting the
affairs and business of said company, which the said president and
directors may lawfully do, or cause to be done, and pass such orders,
rules and by laws, as the said president and directors shall
deem necessary, for the direction, regulation, and government of the
said officers and agents, and for carrying into effect the several
powers vested in the said president and directors, and performing
the duties which they are authorised to perform.

    5.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the twenty-first section, and the
twenty-fourth section, of the act*, entitled, An supplement to the
act, entitled, An act to incorporate a company for the purpose of
building a bridge over the river Susquehanna, near Rock Run,
shall be and teh same two sections are hereby repealed.

A Supplement to the Act, entitled, An act for making certain Roads
    in Baltimore and Harford Counties.

Passed Feb. 1, 1817.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
the tenth section of the act, entitled, An act for making certain
roads in Baltimore and Harford counties, passed at December
session eighteen hundred and fifteen†, be and the same is hereby
repealed.
