said road, and shall appoint an overseer for that purpose, and the
said road shall thereafter be deemed a public highway, and shall
be kept in repair as other public roads in said county are. |
Damages to be ascertained.
Proviso. |
3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners,
or a majority
of them, shall ascertain and value the damages, (if any,)
that may be sustained by individuals through whose lands the said
road may pass, taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages,
and return the same to the levy court of said county,
together with the plot and certificate as above directed; and the
damages so ascertained shall be levied and collected as other county
charges in said county are, and shall be paid over to the persons
entitled to receive the same; Provided nevertheless, that no
money shall be levied or assessed for the purpose of paying the
damages aforesaid, until the said road shall be opened and cleared
agreeably to the provisions of this act. |

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners
shall be
entitled to receive as a compensation for their services in performing
the duties required by this act, the sum of two dollars per day,
to be levied, collected and paid, in the same manner as are other
county charges in said county. |

Allowance to jurors
and coroners. |
BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
hereafter there shall be allowed the sum of fifty cents to each juror
who may serve on a coroner's inquest, and to the constable who may
be directed by any coroner or magistrate to summon such jury, or
to the coroner if the jury be summoned by him, the sum of twelve
and one half cents for each juror, which sums shall be collected
and paid to the persons entitled thereto, in the like manner as the
fees allowed by law to such coroner.

CHAP. CXLIII.
An Act to open and extend Pine-Street in the Western Precincts of
Baltimore.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
the street commissioners of the western precincts of Baltimore be,
and they or a majority of them are hereby authorised and empowered,
to open and extend Pine-street in the said precincts, of
the width of fifty feet, in a southerly direction from the intersection
of Fayette and Pine-streets, to Baltimore-street, and the said
street, when opened and extended, and the valuation and assessment
herein after directed to be made shall have taken place, shall be
deemed and considered, and is hereby declared, a public street and
highway for ever thereafter; and the said commissioners, or a majority
of them, are hereby directed to return a plot ascertaining |
