road, and shall appoint an overseer for that purpose; and the said
road shall thereafter be deemed a public highway, and shall be
kept in repair as other public roads in said county are. |
Damages to be ascertained.
Proviso. |
4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners,
or a majority
if them, shall value and ascertain what damages, (if any)
may be sustained by individuals through whose lands the said
road may pass, taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages,
and return the same to the levy court of said county,
together with the plot and certificate as above directed; and the
damages so ascertained shall be levied and collected as other county
charges in said county are, and shall be paid over to the persons
entitled to receive the same; Provided nevertheless, that no money
shall be levied or assessed for the purpose of paying the damages
aforesaid until the said road shall be opened and cleared agreeably
to the provisions of this act. |

5. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners
shall be
entitled to receive as a compensation for their services in performing
the duties required by this act, the sum of two dollars per day,
to be levied, collected and paid, in the same manner as other county
charges in said county. |

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
so much of the act, entitled, An act to encourage the destruction
of crows in the several counties therein mentioned, passed at November
session, eighteen hundred nine, chapter 203, as relates to
Queen-Anne's county, and the same is hereby repealed. |

Preamble. |
WHEREAS Joshua Dryden, George Evans, Joshua Evans,
Alexander
K. McDonald, Abel Spencer, Samuel Ruckle, David Graham,
James Curlet, Dominick Bader, Henry Hook, James Kirkpatrick,
Thomas Kenighton, Samuel Myers, and others, have
formed themselves into a society for the laudable purpose of affording
relief to each other, and their respective families, in the event
of sickness, distress and death, and have prayed an act of incorporation
that they may the better execute their intentions; and the
legislature being desirous of promoting such useful institutions,
