CHARLES RIDGELY, OF HAMPTON, ESQ. GOVERNOR.

trustee, shall conceive himself, herself, or themselves, aggrieved by
such valuation and assessment of damages by the said commissioners,
it shall and may be lawful for any justice of the peace for 
Baltimore county, on his, her or their application, to issue his
warrant, under his hand and seal, directed to the sheriff of said
county, commanding him to summon twelve disinterested men,
qualified by law to serve as jurors in the county court, to meet
upon the premises on a certain day, of which six days notice shall 
be given to the party or parties interested, and when so met, and
having each first taken an oath before some justice of the peace,
that he will without favour, affection, prejudice or partiality, assess
the damages sustained by the person or persons at whose request
such inquisition shall be taken, by reason of opening the
said road through his, her or their land, shall thereupon proceed
and value the damages accordingly, taking into consideration the
advantages and disadvantages, if any, and such inquisition and
valuation shall be final and conclusive between the parties respectively.

An Act to incorporate a Company under the name of The Nottingham
                Library Company.

                                            A Supplement, 1817, ch. 157.

Passed Jan. 24, 1816.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
James Gillispie, Job Haines and Hugh Beard, or a majority of
them, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners, at such
time and after such notice as they or a majority of them shall
think proper. at La Belle Alliance, to open books and receive subscriptions
for two hundred shares of five dollars each, as the capital
stock of the said company, to be paid one half at the time of
subscribing, the other half on the day of election of the managers
and directors herein after mentioned.

    By 1817, ch. 157, the payment of the last half to be pain in three months
after subscribing.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That so soon as the whole number (a)
of shares shall be subscribed for, the said commissioners, or a
majority of them, shall give notice thereof, by setting up public
advertisements throughout the county of Cecil, and in the town of
La Belle Alliance, and appoint a day for the election of five managers
and directors, to be elected by ballot of the stockholders,
each share entitled to one vote.

    (a)  By 1817, ch. 157, when fifty shares are subscribed the commissioners to
give notice, &c.

Election of managers.
    3.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all persons who shall become
subscribers to the said stock, their successors and assigns, shall be
and they are hereby made a corporation and body politic, by the
name and style of The Nottingham Library Company, and by
that name shall be and are hereby made able and capable in law
to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered,
defend and be defended, in any court of record, or any
other place whatever.
Subscribers incorporated.
    4.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the officers of the said company
be governed by such rules and regulations as the said managers
and directors, and their successors, or a majority of them, shall
from time to time think proper to adopt.
