LAWS OF MARYLAND.
so appointed shall give bond in like manner as is required
by law of other supervisors of public roads, and in all respects to
be governed by and subject to the same rules, regulations, penalties,
fines, forfeitures and privileges, as are by law provided in the
case of other supervisors for public roads in the county of Washington
aforesaid. |
| Expenses to be levied. |
8. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the justices of
the levy court of
Washington county shall cause to be paid the expenses attending
the laying out and surveying, marking and plotting the said road,
and also to pay the damages as returned by said commissioners,
and to levy such sum of money as may be necessary for the same. |
Pennsylvania to
concur. |
9. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners
aforesaid shall
have no power to carry the provisions of this act into effect until
the citizens of Pennsylvania agree and actually locate and open a
similar road from Green Castle to the Pennsylvania line, in as
straight a direction as the nature of the ground will admit of, towards
Hager's-town, to intersect said road. |

CHAP. LXXXVIII.
A Supplement to an Act* to incorporate a Company to make a Turnpike
Road from the Turnpike near Westminster to Taney Town,
thence with the Main Street through Emmitsburgh to Troup's
Tavern.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
the president and managers of the Westminster, Taney-town and
Emmitsburgh turnpike road, shall have power to extend the said
turnpike road from Troup's tavern in Emmitsburgh to the Pennsylvania
line, at such point as they shall agree upon, as the most proper
point, in the same manner, and under the same regulations directed
by the law to which this is a supplement; and the president
and managers of said turnpike road shall have power to appoint
five commissioners, who shall value the damages, and do all other
things, touching the extension of the said turnpike road, directed to
be done by the act to which this is a supplement. |

CHAP. LXXXIX.
An Act to lay out and open a Road from George Shafer's, to the new
cut Road leading from Frederick Town to Hughes's Coaling
Ground.

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the levy court of Frederick county are hereby authorised and empowered
to appoint five commissioners, not interested, who, or a
majority of them, shall survey, lay out and open, at the expense of
the petitioners or other persons interested therein, a road not exceeding
thirty feet in width, in the best and straightest direction,
taking all circumstances into consideration, from George Shafer's
to Bartgis's paper mill, thence to Brown's on the west side of the
Catoctin mountain, and thence by Delautur's mill, to intersect the
new cut road from Frederick-town to Hughes's coaling ground, and
the said commissioners shall make out a plot of said road, and return
the same to the clerk of the county, to be recorded among the
records of said county; and the road, when so opened at the expense
of the petitioners, or others interested therein, and the valuation
hereafter directed to be made shall be paid or secured to be paid to |
