road from the Washington county line, by Peter Bainbridge's and
Newcomer's mill, to Elizabeth-town, and the said commissioners
did proceed and lay out the said road:  And whereas it is represented
to this general assembly, by the petition of a number of the inhabitants
of Washington county, that there was a mistake made in
the return of the survey of the said road, and that the said road
may be laid out on better ground, and that owing to these circumstances
the money that hath been collected for the opening the said
road hath never been applied; therefore,

    1801.

CHAP. 58.

    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
George Nigh, Jacob Harry and Henry Shrauder, be and they are
hereby appointed commissioners to review and lay out the said road
leading from Frederick county, by Peter Bainbridge's mill and
Newcomer's mill, in Washington county, to Elizabeth-town, in
said county, and are hereby vested with the same powers and authority
as the commissioners appointed under the act to which this
is a further supplement, subject to the provisions and directions
of the said act, provided the said road is continued form
the line of Washington county by Peter Bainbridge's and by Newcomer's
mill; and that the said road when so laid out, and certificate
of survey made and returned by the commissioners aforesaid
to the county court of Washington county, shall be deemed and taken
to be the road intended in the original act to which this is a
further additional supplement, to all intents and purposes whatsoever,
any thing in the said act to the contrary notwithstanding.

An Act authorising Commissioners to make alterations in the Election
    Districts, and the places of holding Elections, in the several Counties
    therein mentioned.

    WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that several
of the election districts in the counties of St. Mary's, Cecil, Washington
and Allegany, have not been laid off by the commissioners
appointed under the act (a) to regulate elections, as nearly equal as
possible, having regard to the population, extent and convenience
of voters, and that great inconvenience is experienced from attending
places of holding elections from their not being central in said
districts:  And whereas by the assumption of jurisdiction by congress
over the District of Columbia, the election districts of
Prince-George's county have become unequal in point of population
and extent; for remedy whereof,

    2.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the persons herein after named shall be and they are hereby appointed
and authorised, or a majority of them, or a majority of the
survivors of them, in each of the counties herein after mentioned,
commissioners, to review the election districts in their counties respectively,
and to alter and change the lines and bounds of any
of the said districts, which in their judgment ought to be altered
and changed, and also to alter the places of holding the elections in
such districts respectively, if necessary, carefully making the several
districts as nearly equal as possible, having regard to population,
