CHAP. LV.
An Act to authorise and empower the Justices of the Levy Court of
Caroline
County to discontinue so much of the public Road as
is therein

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly
by the petition
of Thomas Ford, and others, that so much of the public road
leading from Frazier's new road in Frazier's neck, through the
farm of Thomas Ford, and others, to Hog Island, is of no possible
public utility, and greatly injurious to the interest of the said
petitioners; therefore, |
Road may be discontinued. |
1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Caroline county, be and are hereby
authorised and directed, if they shall see proper, at their first session
in the year eighteen hundred and fifteen, upon the application
of the said Thomas Ford, and others, through whose land the aforesaid
road now runs, to discontinue and stop the same from the said
Frazier's new road, any law to the contrary notwithstanding. |

A Supplement to the act*, entitled, An act to alter and change the
Name of Elizabeth-Town, in Washington County, to Hager's-Town,
and to incorporate the same. Lib. TH. No.

Wood-corder and
hay-weigher to be
appointed. |
1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the moderator and commissioners of Hager's-town, in addition to
the powers granted to them in the original act to which this is a
supplement, shall be and they are hereby authorised and empowered
to appoint a suitable person or persons as a wood-corder or
corders, and to erect hay-scales, and appoint a proper person to
act as hay-weigher, and to allow to each of them such compensation
for their services as they may think reasonable. |
Tax on players &
showmen. |
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the moderators
and commissioners
aforesaid shall have full power and authority to lay and collect such
tax as they in their discretion may think necessary, upon all players
and showmen who shall come within the limits of said town for
the purpose of exhibiting their respective representations. |

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That
the Christian Church now known and acknowledged in this state
under the denomination of the Maryland Conference of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, protected by the constitution and laws of
the same, shall have all the benefits and advantages arising from
all gifts or grants of property, in the same way, and to the same
extent, as they could have had at any time under the provisions of
the act to which this is a supplement; Provided, the said christian |
