CHAP. 146.

                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

at least five days notice, and shall have returned the damages so
assessed, to the said justice of the peace, and such inquisition and
valuation shall be final and conclusive; Provided always, that the
said road shall not pass through any house, yard, garden or orchard,
without the consent of the owner or owners thereof.

                                        CHAP. CXLVII.
An Act for the benefit of Margaret Lamb, of the City of Annapolis.

Lamb.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the levy court of Anne-Arundel county be, and they are hereby
directed and empowered, at their levy court annually, to assess and
levy on the assessable property of said county, a sum of money not
exceeding thirty dollars, for the support and maintenance of John
Lamb of the city of Annapolis, so long as they shall see cause, and
that the same be collected annually by the collector or collectors of
Anne-Arundel county, and paid to Margaret Lamb, wife of the
said John Lamb, or to her order.

                                        CHAP. CXLVIII.
An Act authorising an appropriation for the Penitentiary of this State.

    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the inspectors of the penitentiary of this state, or any seven of them,
be and they are hereby authorised, from time to time, to draw orders
on the treasurer of the western shore for any sums of money
not exceeding in the whole four thousand dollars, which orders the
said treasurer is hereby required to pay out of any unappropriated
money in the treasury, to be applied by the said inspectors, or a
majority of them, towards the purchase of tools, raw materials and
provisions, or other necessary articles, for the use and benefit of
the said penitentiary, in such manner as they shall direct and determine,
and shall be accounted for in such manner as is prescribed
by the act passed at November session eighteen hundred and
eleven*, entitled, An act authorising appropriations for the penitentiary
of this state.

A Supplement to revive, amend and continue, an act (a), entitled, An
    act to incorporate a Company to make a Turnpike Road from the
    line of the District of Columbia, where it crosses the Post Road

    and Frederick Counties, to Frederick-Town.

    WHEREAS an act, entitled, An act to incorporate a company to
make a turnpike road from the line of the District of Columbia,
where it crosses the post road leading from George-town to Frederick-town,
through Montgomery and Frederick counties to Frederick-town,
passed the general assembly of Maryland at November
session eighteen hundred and five †, but owing to accidental
causes was never carried into effect:  And whereas it will be of
great public utility to have said road made, therefore,
