                                              CHAP. LV.
An Act to make valid the Proceedings of the Levy Court of Somerset
    County relative to the Sale of certain Lots of Ground. Lib. TH.
    No. 3, fol. 387.

Preamble.

*  Ch. 26.

    WHEREAS the levy court of Somerset county were, by any act of
assembly passed at November session eighteen hundred and eleven*,
authorised to dispose of the warehouse lots in said county on or
before the first day of June eighteen hundred and twelve, and to
execute a deed or deeds to the purchaser or purchasers:  And whereas,
the said levy court proceeded to make sale of all the warehouse
lots in said county, except the lot of ground in Princess-Anne
Town, adjoining the court-house, at some time after the said first
day of June eighteen hundred and twelve, therefore,

confirmed.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the sales of the warehouse lots in Somerset county, and all other
acts and deeds relative thereto made or done by the levy court of
said county, be and they are hereby confirmed, and made as good
and valid, to all intents and purposes, as if they had been made
pursuant to the directions of the act, entitled, An act to dispose of
certain lots therein specified in Somerset county.

Proviso.

    2.  AND whereas the levy court of Somerset county did contract
with, and purchase of a certain John Maddox, half an acre
of land on Maddox's Island, and did build a warehouse thereon,
which was sold by the levy court under the said act of assembly,
and purchased by a certain Littleton D. Maddox; and the said
levy court for the same, therefore, BE IT ENACTED, That the title
of the said Littleton D. Maddox, his heirs and assigns, to the said
lot and warehouse, shall be confirmed and made valid; Provided,
the original purchase money of said lots has been, or shall be paid
to the said John Maddox, or his representatives, by the levy court
of Somerset county.

                                        CHAP. LVI.
An Act for the support of Stephen Caywood, of Montgomery County.
                               Lib. TH. No. 3, fol. 387.
Preamble.     WHEREAS Stephen Caywod, of Montgomery county, by his
petition to this general assembly has set forth, that he is far advanced
in life, upwards of seventy years of age, and labours under
many of the infirmities of old age which render him incapable
of providing for himself any longer, and praying that some relief
may be granted to him out of the poor-house; and the facts stated
in his petition appearing true, therefore,
Levy authorised
for his support.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the justices of the levy court of Montgomery county shall be, and
they are hereby empowered, at their levy court annually, so long
as they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property
of said county, a sum of money not exceeding thirty dollars,
for the support and maintenance of the said Stephen Caywood,
and that the same be collected annually by the collector of Montgomery
county, and by him paid to the said Stephen Caywood, or
his order.
