                                    CHAP. CLXXII.
An Act to lay out and open a Road in Washington County.  Lib. TH.

Proviso.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Robert Hughes, Walter Boyd, and William Allender, be and they
are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out, open and clear a
road, at the expense of said county, not exceeding thirty feet in
width, from the Charlton's gap road in Washington county, in the
nearest and best direction to the divisional line between Frederick
and Washington counties, to intersect, at said divisional line, a road
laid out and opened in Frederick county, pursuant to a law passed
at November session eighteen hundred and eight*; Provided, that 
the said commissioners shall not lay out or open the said road
through any house, orchard, garden or meadow, unless with the 
consent of the owner or owners thereof.
To ascertain damages.     2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners aforesaid, or a
majority of them, be and they are hereby authorised and directed
to ascertain and value what damages may be sustained by any person
or persons through whose lands the said road may pass; and
the said valuation shall be paid or secured to be paid before the
commissioners shall proceed to open and clear the same; and the
said road when so laid out and completed, shall be recorded among
the records of Washington county court, and be thereafter deemed
and taken to be a public road, and shall be kept in repair as other
public roads in said county are.

                                       CHAP. CLXXIII.
An Act to lay out a Road in Harford County.  Lib. TH. No. 3, fol.
                                                  224.
Levy court may
appoint commissioners
to lay out
road.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
it shall and may be lawful for the levy court of Harford county, in
case an application to them shall be made by a number of respectable
inhabitants of said county, for laying out a road from the Enterprise
Furnace in said county, towards the Pennsylvania line, in
such direction as the petitioners shall apply for, and from the said
furnace towards Dublin, so as to intersect the road leading from
Ashmore's mill to Dublin, at or near the farm of Edward Prigg,
Esq. to appoint three commissioners to lay out such road; and the
said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall be vested with all
and singular the powers given to the commissioners by an act, entitled,
An act to straighten and amend the public roads in Harford
county and for other purposes, passed the thirtieth day of December,
seventeen hundred and ninety-one, chapter seventy, and shall
in every respect be governed by said act; and any person or persons
thinking themselves aggrieved by the allowance made him, her or
them, by the said commissioners, for damages for the said road passing
over or through their lands, shall have the same remedy for redress
as pointed out by said act.
Expenses to be
levied on county.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That in case any such road shall be
laid out, and a plot thereof returned to the clerk of said county,
the levy court of said county shall levy such sum or sums of money
as they in their judgment shall deem necessary for opening and making
the same conveniently passable, and also to pay such damages
as shall be allowed to the landholders over whose land the said
