that part of the old Hanover road, which passes through his land,
and which has been shut up ever since the Hanover and Reister's-town
turnpike road was opened; that the opening the said road
will be ruinous and destructive to him, and is not necessary for the
public convenience, and prays that the said road may not be opened;
and the same appearing reasonable; therefore, |

1. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the said road shall not be opened, and the said John Mackelfresh
is hereby authorised and empowered to keep that part of the old
Hanover road which passed through his land shut up, any order of
the levy court of Baltimore county to the contrary notwithstanding. |

An Act for the benefit of William Taylor, of Worcester County.

Preamble. |
WHEREAS William Taylor was a soldier in the Virginia
line in
the American Revolution, and shed his blood in the struggle for the
liberty of his country, and is now truly a war-worn soldier, bereft
of almost every comfort, and entirely unable to procure a support
from bodily exertions, and has a wife and several small children
dependent on him for support, which, from his wounds and other
afflictions he is prevented from affording, and has prayed for legislative
aid; therefore, |
Judges may grant
him a license to
keep an ordinary.

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the judges of Worcester county court, in court sitting, or any one
of them out of court, be and are hereby empowered and authorised,
from time to time, to grant a license to William Taylor to
keep an ordinary in Worcester county, where he now resides, on
the Cross roads leading from Berling to Herring-creek; for which
license the said William Taylor is hereby relieved from the payment
of the sum of money required by law; Provided always, that
the said William Taylor shall first enter into the recognizance
prescribed by law to be entered into by ordinary keepers. |
