or harbouring such child for the time aforesaid, shall be
liable to a fine of one dollar, and for every day after the first five
days the sum of fifty cents, to be recovered and applied as aforesaid. |

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any provisions
contained in any
former law or laws on this subject, as are inconsistent with the
present, shall be and the same are hereby repealed. |

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the
levy court of Harford county, if they should think proper, be and
they are hereby authorised to levy a sum of money, not exceeding
four hundred dollars, on the assessable property of said county,
in addition to what they have already levied, for the purpose of
erecting a bridge over Deer Creek, at or near Stafford Mills, in
said county. |

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly,
by the petition
of sundry inhabitants of Talbot and Caroline counties, that
the convenience of the public would be greatly promoted by erecting
a bridge over Choptank river, and praying that a law may pass
to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the said river;
therefore, |

2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
Peter Edmondson, John Bennett, John Kennard, William Melny,
Joseph Haskins and James Neall, of Talbot county, and Frederick
Holbrook, William Potter, John Wright, William Haskins, William
Macdonald and William Everngam, of Caroline county, be and
they are hereby appointed commissioners to do and perform the
several duties herein after mentioned; that is to say, they, or any
two of them, shall and may, on or before the second Tuesday of
April next, procure one or more books, as they shall think necessary,
and enter therein as follows to wit: " We whose names are
" hereunto subscribed, do promise to pay to the president, directors
" and company, for erecting a bridge over Choptank river, at or
" near Dover ferry, the sum of two dollars at the time of subscribing,
" and two dollars every thirty days thereafter, until twenty
" dollars be paid on every share of stock in said company, set opposite
" to our respective names;" and shall thereupon proceed to receive
subscriptions for the stock of the said company, which is hereby
declared to be the sum of ten thousand dollars, divided into five
hundred shares of twenty dollars each, at such times and places as |
