LAWS OF MARYLAND.
a scheme of a lottery for raising a sum of money, not exceeding
the sum of five thousand dollars, and to dispose of the tickets thereof;
provided the said Horatio Ridout, James Mackubin, John Maccubbin,
Baruch Fowler, James P. Soper, Zachariah Jacob and
Charles Stewart, or such a majority of them as shall undertake to
act under this law, shall, before the sale or disposal of any ticket
or tickets in said lottery, give bond to the state of Maryland, in the
penalty of ten thousand dollars, conditioned that they will well and
truly apply so much of the money arising therefrom, within six
months after drawing said lottery shall commence, as will satisfy
the fortunate adventurers for prizes drawn by them, and after deducting
the necessary expenses incurred in said lottery, shall, within
twelve months from the time the drawing of said lottery shall
commence, apply the money raised by said lottery to the building
of a church in St. Margaret's Westminster parish, of Anne-Arundel
county. |

in clerk's office. |
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That it shall be the
duty of the said
commissioners, before they act as such, to lodge the bond made and
entered into as aforesaid in the office of the clerk of Anne-Arundel
County court, there to be recorded, and upon such bond, or on any
office copy thereof, suit or suits may be instituted against the obligor
therein, or any of them, or their legal representatives, for any
breach or noncompliance with the conditions of the same. |

CHAP. CCII.
An Act to authorise the Levy Court of Talbot County to employ a
suitable Person to transcribe certain Records in the
Clerk's Office of

Preamble. |
WHEREAS it hath been represented to this general
assembly, that
some of the land records in the clerk's office of Talbot county are
in a ruinous situation; and as it is absolutely necessary for the security
of private property that the said records should be kept safe
and secure, therefore, |
Levy court authorised
to have certain
records transcribed. |
2. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That
the levy court of Talbot county be and they are hereby authorised
and empowered, to employ a suitable person to transcribe into a
well bound blank book or books, with an alphabet, such as are
generally used by the clerk of Talbot county for that purpose,
from Liber W. S. B. No. B. all the deeds and other instruments
or writing recorded in the said book, in a plain legible hand writing. |

3. AND BE IT ENACTED, That before the person
so employed
shall proceed to copy the records aforesaid, he shall take the following
oath before some person authorised to administer an oath:
" I, A. B. do solemnly swear, or affirm, as the case may be, that I
" will make a true transcript from Liber W. S. B. No. B. of all
" the instruments of writing included in the said book, without mutilation
" or alteration; so help me God." |

4. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the person employed
as aforesaid
shall be allowed for his services aforesaid the sum of ten cents for
each and every side which he shall copy, which said sums, as well
as the costs of the books aforesaid, shall be levied on the assessable
property of Talbot county aforesaid, and collected in the same
manner as other county charges are levied and collected, and when |
