March 10th 1690/1 ( 68 ) At the same time and after the same manner was the Brother of the said Robert:Stitt bound to ffrancis Alexander before me E. H. May it please your worshipps I have farther to informe your worps that One day last March Court Comeing out of the Court house a Man of an indifferent Stature with pock holes in his face (I did afterwards understand that his name was Wm: Owen) Came to inquire of me about the within mentioned Robert:Stitt, I gave him a Concise account of what agreement had past between him and his Master, he seem=d to be well Satisfied with it, Only when we parted Said these words or to this effect, Lett him go like a Rogue as he is, since it is so I will medle no farther - with him, this I also afirm to be the truth my humble Service to ye all presented I am Worshipfull Sir yr worps humble Servant Edmund: Howard - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Demr. 11th. 1690 The Diposition of Richard:Maclure. aged 40: years or thereabout May it please yr worps Some time in ffebruary last past as I suppose, coming accidenty to the house of Mr Edmund: Howard, there was present John:Starrett, ffrancs:Alexander & Samuel:Alexander and Robert: Stitt, after I was come in to mr Edmund Howards house I heard mr Edmund: Howard read over an Indenture unto Robert: Stitt, wherein the said Robert:Stitt offered himself to be bound Apprentise unto John Starrett. after y Indenture was read, I heard mr Edmund: Howard ask Robert:Stitt if he was willing to Subscribe and bind himselfe to John:Starrett according to the tenour of that Indenture, he replyed he was free & willing mr Edmund: Howard asked the sd Stitt if any man had deluded him, by fair words promises or threats to Sett his hand to that Indenture, he said no, but that of his owne free will and consent would sign Seal & deliver yt Indenture which I the Deponent did see done, and am One of the witnesses to the sd Indenture, this or to the same effect as farr as I can remember I heard, this the Deponent saith & no further.
