March 10th. 1690/1 ( 64 ) The aforesd Declaracon being read as appeas folio (63) the sd Teague Riggen being at y Barr and being asked what he had to say why judgmt should not be entered agt him according to Declar the sd Teague wholy referrd him self to the worll. Court. whose judgmt was that the sd Teague Riggen should pay the principall debt. viz ten pounds sterling money with Cost of Suit &c Order. granted agt the sd Teague for y Same &c. Mr Richard ffarewell was by Recognizance of five pound Sterl money bound with the sd Teague for the sd Teagues good behaviour. but at that time ffarewells tryall was Suspended . - - - - - Andrew: Whittington and John: Webb Innholders, being each of them three times calld in Court but neither of them appearing. It is therefore Ordered that their License shall not be Confirmed till appearance made. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To the worll. their Maties Justices for the County of Somerset. The humble Petion of Tho. Woods Humbly shewing unto your worps that whereas one Richard Brittain dyed lately in the woods, who was lodged at the house of yr Petioner fourteen months, So it is, that Seing your worps Petioner seing that there was no friend of the sd Richards to take Care to see that the Corps aforesd should have a decent and Christian like funerall. yor Petioner did take Care to doe the same, to the uttermost of his power, so that yr Petioner did expend and disburse toward the funerall of the sd Richard with other sums paid for him to the value of two thousand four hundred pounds of tobacco & upwards as pr accot. here in Court produced more plainly may appear. The premises tenderly Considered, may it therefore please yr worps to grant ye petioner lettrs of Administration upon the personal Estate of the said Richard Brittane and as in duty bound your petioner Shall pray &c. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The Petioner further humbly prayeth that if yr worps doth not think fitt to grant yr Petioner Letters of Admrn that yr worps would be pleased to Order that the Petioner may keep the goods belonging formerly to the said Brittain in his posession, as they were given in Charge by the Coroner to the petioner until the petioner be pd of his disbursmts and yr petioner shall pray as formerly &c The Estate of Richard: Brittaian Dr. lb tobaccoe To lodging and wa hing for (14) months. ------------------- 600 To a winding sheet. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 400 To a Coffin - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 250 To 200lb. porke y One halfe expended in victuals at y funerall The other moiety expended for drink for ditto - - - - - 400 To 4 men for carrying the Corps 12 mile from y place that the sd Richard died to the house of the sd Thomas Woods. - 200 To the trouble of the sd Woods & his wife was at for 3 dayes & the Corps was unburied & in getting a decent burial for him &c 400 To 4 yds blew linnon pd to Teague Riggen Senr for him 120 To one Bushel of wheat paid to Samuel Tomlinson for ditto 50 Suma Totalis. - - - - 2420 Errors Excepted pr me Thomas: Woods. |
