( 1 ) At a Court held by their Maties Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset the fourteenth day of November, in the second year of their Maties Reign William and Mary by the grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland. King and Queen Defenders of the faith and in the year of our Lord God One thousand six hundred &ninety Comissioners Coll. David Browne. mr. ffrancis Jenkins. Capt John:Winder. mr. Present James:Dasheils. mr. James: Round.mr.Samuel:Hopkins mr.Edmund Howard Capt. John: King. John: Moore fferry man took Oath of Allegiance and abhorrence in Open Court. Ordered by the Court that all Officers in this County both milletery and Civil take the aforesd Oath of Allegiance and abhorrence . The said ffrancis Thorrowgood for Sundry abuses done Their. Majesties and comitted last night, was Comitted into the Custody of agt. the Sheriffe, who this day brings his prisoner to the barr Francis: Thorrowgood severall questions being asked, the sd Thorrowgood, as also whethe he was the person which threw in the brick batt where the Court was Sitting att mr Andrew Whittingtons or no which sd brick batt did much wound Capt. John: King; to all which, the said Thorrowgood pleaded not guilty. and for his Tryall puts him Selfe upon the Country And thereupon Comand was given to the Sheriffe to Sumon twelve good & lawfull men of his Balywick. which was imediatly performed, a list or pannel of which were returned as followeth. viz.) Samuel: Collins. Roger:Phillips Rich. Rugg Thomas: Hobbs: Richard: Webb. John:Moore ferryman. Richard: Lewes. Sampson Wheatley. William: Planner. William: Millard. Robert: Crouch. Henry:Hudson senior which said Jury was at the Barr Sworne upon this present Cause depending. Likewise Comand was given to the Sheriffe to Sumon these persons viz) Evidences, as followeth Roger Burkam . Sworne -------- ------- ------- --------- -------- --------- -------- --- -- John: ffranklin. sworne. Thomas: Dixon -sworne The aforesaid Jury having heard the Evidences Andrew:Whittington senior refuses to mak oath which were duely sumoned and sworne as also John: Webb. - - sworne thorrowly examined, receives their Charge & goes forth Charles: Tindall. - - - - - which foresaid Jury having deliberately John: Covington - - - - determined the matter returns in Court with this John: Burkam. young boyes following verdict. read in the audience of Thorowgood Andr: Whittington Junior examined } (viz) Wee the Jurors do find ffrancis Thorowgood - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - guilty of being drunk at the house of Andrew Whittington upon the 13th. day of this Instant month and then and there violently to threaten the King=s Maties Justices for the County of Somerset and offering other abuses to them.
