That the Company ought to be released by the State from the payment of any portion of the future receipts for passenger transportation on the said Branch Road, and from all receipts from that source since the fist day of January, 1872, and ought also to be exempted from taxation on the said Branch Road ; and the Company ought to pay to the State, in perpetuity, the annual sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, in equal semi-annual payments, on the first Wed- nesday in July and January in each year, the first of said instalments to be paid on or before the first Wednesday in July next. Which was read, and On motion of Mr. Griswold, The farther consideration thereof was postponed, and the Report made the order of the day for Wednesday, 20th inst. The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills, Severally endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays." The bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Town Commis- sioners of Newtown, to endorse the bonds of the Worcester and Somerset Railroad Company, to the amount of five thou- sand dollars. Which was read a first time and referred to a Select Com- mittee, consisting of Messrs. Franklin, Parker, and Long- well. Also, The bill, entitled an Act to provide for taking the vote of the people for or against a new County in certain election districts in Allegany county, at the election to be held in the fall of 1872. |
