of an upright and intelligent judiciary, securing the bless-
ing of good order, and the enlightened administration of jus-tice, within her borders.
For these reasons the Committee think the prayer of the
memorialists ought to be granted, and have 'reported a bill
for that purpose, all of which is respectfully submitted.

"Which was read.
Mr. Chapman, from the Committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to equalize the salary of the Judges
of the Court of Appeals, with the salary of the Judges of the
several Courts of Baltimore City.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Feig, from the Select Committee on that subject, to
whom was re-committed
The bill, entitled an Act to repeal sections 179 and 180,
of Article XXX., oi the Code of Public General Laws, relat-
ing to "Sabbath Breaking," and to re-enact the same with
amendments,
Reported back the same favorably.
Said bill being upon a second reading,
The bill was then read a second time.
The question recurring upon the engrossment of the bill,
Mr. Wilmer moved to strike out the enacting clause of
the bill,
Pending which,
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day.
The House proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished
business of yesterday, being
The bill, entitled an Act to appoint a Commissioner of
Immigration to protect the interests of labor and agriculture
in the State of Maryland ; also revise and provide for all im-migrants arriving at the port of Baltimore, in the State of
Maryland.
