The House met.
.Present at the call of the roll the following members :
Messrs. Gorman, Speaker, Colton, of St. Mary's, Dunbar,.
Wilmer, Hurtt, Wells, Duvall, Henkle, Bond, Sparrow,
Chapman, Stone Shipley, Turner, Foard, ofB. Co., Litzin-
ger, Spencer, Banks, Butler, Goldsborough, Roach, Waller.
Dougherty, Smith, Vickers, Radcliffe, Groome, Mearns, Pen
ington, Scott, Sasscer, Eareckson, Ford, of Q. A., Franklin,
Parker, Phillips, Bowe, Delaplane, Miller, Riley, Baldwin,
Streett, Hardcastle, Deweese, McCosker, Hamilton T. H.
Cooper, Hamilton, O. R., Jamart, Foster, Staylor, Stewart,.
Travers, dark, of B. City, Colton, of B. City, Kirk, Chaisty,
Harig, Feig, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Young, of
Wash., Ardinger, Newcomer, Whitson, Riggs, Clark, of
Mont., Porter, Coles, Robinette, Steele, Lamotte, L. A* J.
Polk, Lamotte, H. H., Linthicum, Langrell—77.
Mr. Franklin presented the petition oi D. O. Hudson, and
fifty-four other citizens of Berlin, in Worcester county, pray-
ing that the law incorporating said town may not be re-
pealed.
Also,
The petition of Isaiah Adkins, and twenty-seven other citi-
zens of Worcester county, praying the passage of a law to-
regulate fishing nets in said county.
Which were severally read and referred to a Select Com-
mittee, consisting of Messrs. Franklin, Parker and Langrell.
Mr. Butler presented the petition of Joseph B. Laws, and
sixty other citizens of Talbot county, protesting against the
passage of a law allowing the taking of oysters with scoops
in Miles and Choptank Rivers, in said county.
"Which was read and referred to the Chesapeake Bay and
its Tributaries.
Mr. Hurtt presented the petition of A. S. Hemlock, and
fifty-four other citizens of Kent county, praying the passage
of a law to pay men who were drafted or furnished substi-
tutes in the late war.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Sasscer presented the petition of Harry R. Davis, and
twenty-five others, against the modification of the Sunday
Law.
