On motion of Mr. Duvall,
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill referred to the Anne Arundel relegation. ->
Mr. Ford, Chairman of the Committee on Pensions, re-
ported favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1870, chapter
477, entitled as Act to repeal the Act of 1867, chapter 385,
which provided for laying pensions to the Maryland soldiers.
of the war of 1812, and to the widows of deceased soldiers of
that war, and also to repeal the Act of 1868, chapter 432,
providing pensions for certain soldiers and widows of soldiers
of the war of 1812, and to provide in lieu thereof for allowing
pensions to certain soldiers and widows of soldiers of the war
of 1812.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Chapman, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order:
Ordered, That the bill repealing the Pension Acts be re-
committed to the Committee on Pensions, with instructions
to report a bill to this House, granting pensions to deserving
parties, whose petitions they have.
Which was adopted, and
The bill, as therein referred to, was recommitted to the
Committee on Pensions.
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,
On motion of Mr. Wilmer,
The further consideration thereof was postponed for thirty
minutes, to enable the various Committees to report.
Mr. Colton, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re-
ported favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
defray the expenses of the State Librarian in prosecuting a
mandamus to obtain possession of the Library and its ar-
chives from his predecessor in office.
/ Which was read a first time.
Mr. Griswold, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported favorably,
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to add an additional sec-
tion to Article XXX., of the Code of Public general Laws,
relating to Crimes and Punishments, under the sub-heading
"Embezzling Property and Writings."
