Referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Radcliffe, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to authorize and empower the Cleric
to the County Commissioners of Dorchester county, to ad-
minister an oath or affirmation upon any claim against said.
county or upon any official paper or papers in connexion with
his office.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Goldsborough, Chairman of a Select Committee, re-
poned favorably,
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 16, of
Article XXXVIII., Code of Public General Lawg, so far as
the same relates to Talbot county, and to add an additional
lection to Article XX., Code of Public Local Law, title
"Talbot County."
Which was read a second time.
Mr. Duvall, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported fa-
vorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to ap-
point an additional Justice of the Peace for the 8th Election
District of Anne Arundel County.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Turner, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A. bill, entitled an Act to direct the Northern Central
Railroad Company to station flag-men at certain crossings.
Which was read a first time.
The joint resolution, authorizing and requesting the Gov-
ernor to employ counsel to defend those citizens of Anne
Arundel county, who, as Registers and Judges of Election,
have been indicted in the United States District Court of
Maryland, for alleged violation of the Enforcement Act, and,
daring the last general election in this State,
Being upon a second reading,
Mr. Streett submitted the following amendment :
Strike out the words "employ counsel," and insert th
words: "direct the Attorney-General of the State."
Which was adopted.
The resolutions, as amended, were then read a second time
