Mr. Groome submitted the following message : BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, January 12th, 1872. Gentlemen of the Senate : We have received your message, proposing a Joint Com- mittee of five, two on the part of the Senate, and three on the part of the House, to bring the subject of a Ship Canal across the peninsula of Maryland and Delaware, to connect the waters of the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays, before the Executive of the General Government, or in their discretion before the proper Committee of the Congress of the United. States, and to ask a detail from the Topographical Engineer Corps, to have the route of said Canal surveyed, etc., etc., and respectfully concur therein. -, We have appointed on the part of the House Messrs. Groome, Stone and Chaisty, By order, MILTON Y. KIDD, Chief Clerk. Which "was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate. On motion of Mr. dark, of Baltimore City, Leave was granted to Messrs, dark, Henkle, Eareckson, Chaisty and Smith, to introduce a bill to establish a State Board of Health. On motion of Mr. Miller, Leave was granted to the Frederick delegation to introduce-a bill. entitled an Act authorizing the County Commissioners for Frederick county, to subscribe to the capital stock of the Liberty and Frederick Turnpike Road Company, of Freder- ick county. On motion of Mr. Dougherty, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary, to introduce a bill authorizing James W. Dennis, guardian of Lev! E. P.
