Charles county, praying the passage of a law taxing the Bal-
timore and Ohio Railroad.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Also,
The petition of sundry citizens of Charles county, praying
for the passage of a dog law.
Which was read and referred to a Select Committee,
consisting -of Messrs. Chapman, Stone and Colton, of St.
Mary's.
Mr. Travers presented the petition of James H. Start, and
fifty other mechanics of Baltimore City, against the manu-
facture of boots and shoes in the Maryland Penitentiary.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Man-
ufactures.
Mr. Radcliffe presented the petition of Thomas O. Bennett,
Rufus Spedden, James N. Dawson, John Hubbard, W. H.
Travers, and one hundred and sixteen other citizens of Dorchester county, asking for a modification of the oyster law, so
far as it applies to Branhock's Bay, Todd's Point Bay and
Le Comte's Bay.
Which was read and. referred to the Committee on th
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
Mr. Smith presented a petition against allowing non-resi-
dents to dredge in certain waters within Dorchester county.
Also,
The petition of Thomas J. Seward, and others, asking for
a law to prevent non-resident-i {yam catch ing terra pi as with-
in the creeks, &c., of Dorchester county.
Which were severally read and referred to the Dorchester
delegation.
Mr. Griswold presented the petition of Robert Gamblin,
and other colored barbers, asking the closing of barber shops
on Sunday in Baltimore City.
Also,
. The petition of citizens of Baltimore City to close barber
shops on Sunday. '
Also,
The petition, of J. Adam Ruppert, and others, asking for
a law to close barber shops on Sunday in Baltimore.
Which were severally read and referred to the Baltimore
City delegation.
