Mr. Feig presented the petition of Henry Cashmyer, and twenty others of the City Council of Baltimore, in favor of the lmmigraton Bill now pending before your Honorable Body. Also, The petition of the State of Maryland, in favor of the Immigration Bill now pending before your Honorable Body. Mr. Linthicum presented the following petition : To the Honorable, the General assembly of Maryland: The petition of the undersigned, a Joint Committee, ap- pointed at various public meetings held in the counties of Montgomery, Howard and Car roll, to memorialize your Hon-orable) Body for a Charter, authorizing the construction of a Railroad from the line of the District of Columbia, near to the city of Washington, through those counties, as nearly due north as the nature of the country will permit;, to the Penn-sylvania line, in the direction of Harrisburg. The undersigned beg leave to represent that distinguished civil and military engin-eers have long since pointed out this as an important line of inter-communication, and since the advent of railroads the importance of this line has become more manifest. 26 |
