Which was adopted.
Mr. Litzinger submitted the following order:
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this-House
that Mr. Spencrr, a member, is detained from his seat by
sickness.
Which was adopted.
Mr Srnith submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the President of the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal Company be requited to furnish this House with a
statement of the gross earinings of the Canal for the years
ending 31st May, 1868,3lst May, 1869,31st May, 1870, 31st
May, '1871, and the gross expeditures for each of said years;
the gross receipts and expedition s from June 1st, 1871, to
January, 1872 ; the amount of money in the treasury of the
Company, and subject to its order on .June 1st, 1870; the
amount expended in each of the aforesaid .tears f'or ordinary
expenditures, and also fur extraordinary expenditures ; the
estimated expenditures for repairs necessary to be mule before the opening of navigation the coming Spring of 1872.
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. H. H. Lamotte,
Leave was granted to the Carroll delegation, to introduce
a bill, to extend the civil jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace
in Carroll county.
On motion of Mr. Travers?,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Inspections, to in-
troduce a bill, to regulate the inspection and cording of firewood, in Baltimore City, for the better protection, of the pro-
ducer, and consumer.
On motion of Mr. Litzinger,
Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation,'to
introduce a bill, to incorporate the Enterprise Avenue Com-
pany, of Baltimore county.
On. motion of Mr. Shipley,
Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation, to
introduce a bill, in relation to swine running at large in the
second election district, of Baltimore county.
On motion of Mr. Groome,
Leave was granted to the Kent and Cecil delegations, to
introduce hill, incorporating the Westminister Presbyterian
Church, of Kent county, and visting in the same a lot of
ground in the village of Georgetown, in said county.
