127. They may impose a fine of one dollar, on
any person who may wilfully discharge a gun or
other fire arms in said town, on any day excepting
days when the militia may be mustered or paraded
therein: and the like sum upon all persons who may
suffer their chimneys, or any of them, to flame out
for want of cleaning; and on any person who may
ride or drive a horse at an immoderate speed through
said town; and also impose a reasonable fine on per-
sons for permitting their geese or swine to run at
large in said town.
128. All the property in said town, taxed for county
and State purposes, shall be liable to be taxed lor the
purposes of and by said corporation; and the Mayor
and Council may annual', .'levy upon said property,
at the same time that other, taxes are levied, a rea-
sonable sum to assist in keeping the engines and
hose of the fire companies of said town in proper
order.
129. They may provide by ordinance for arresting
and punishing; ill vagrant, loose, and disorderly per-
sons, lewd women, keepers of bandy houses, and
common disturbers of the neighborhood, that may
be found in said town, commit the offenders to the
jail of the county for a term not exceeding twenty
days, or impose a fine not exceeding twenty dollars.
130. They may levy and collect such tax as they
may think proper, upon all players and showmen
exhibiting in said town, and for a refusal to pay the
same, or exhibit or perform in violation of this sec-
tion, may impose a fine equal to the tax-- laid, and
imprison the offender.
131. They may regulate by ordinance the market
in. said town, appoint an inspector of said mar-
ket, assign his duties and allow him a salary, and
have control and rent the butchers' stalls in the (
market-house.
132. They may annually levy upon the taxable pro
perry of said town such sums as they may consider
necessary to meet the wants of said town, no'
exceeding thirty-five cents on the one hundred
