SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
effect from and after the date of its passage.

Duties of.
CHAPTER 420.
AN ACT to revive, re-enact and amend certain sec-
tions of the Act of January session, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-two, chapter three hundred and
sixteen, entited " An Act to authorize the appoint-
ment of a commissioner to take testimony to pro-
vide for the recording of copies of wills and other
papers, of which the originals were lost by the
burning of the court-house in Dorchester county,
and to remedy, as far as practicable, the evils likely
to ensue from the destruction of the records of
said county."
SEC. 1. lie it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Act passed at January session,
eighteen hundred and fifty-two, chapter three hun-
dred and sixteen, entitled an Act to authorize the
appointment of a commissioner to take testimony to
provide for the recording of copies of wills and other
papers, of which the originals were lost by the burn-
ing of the court-house in Dorchester county, and to
remedy, as far as practicable, the evils likely to ensue
from the destruction of the records of said county,
be and the same is hereby re-enacted and revived,
except the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh,
eighth, ninth, fifteenth, nineteenth, twentieth, twenty-
first, twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth sections thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Judges of the
Orphans' Court of said county be and they are hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint some suitable
person a commissioner, to perform the duties pre-
scribed by the aforesaid provisions of said Act, herein
re-enacted, and by the provisions of this Act; and
