CHAPTER 412.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay for
necessary repairs of the State House, and paving
the carriage way to the Governor's mansion.
SUCTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assemble of
Maryland, That the sum of three thousand dollars,
or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the
same is hereby appropriated to pay for putting the
water-closets in proper order, and other repairs ne-
cessary for the preservation of the State House build-
ing, and paving the carriage way to the Governor's
mansion.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That Augustus Gassaway
be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to
superintend and control the disbursement of the said
sum of money, appropriated by the first section of
this Act, for such repairs as he may deem necessary
and proper to be made.
SEC. 3. And he if enacted, that the said Augustus
Gassaway is hereby authorized and empowered to
contract with proper persons for the execution of the
repairs aforesaid, and the Comptroller is hereby au-
thorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the
Treasurer, payable to the order of the said Augustus
Gassaway, for the payment of said repairs; provided,
the said sums shall not exceed in the aggregate the
