jurisdiction are made upon the express condition
that this State shall retain a concurrent jurisdiction
with the United States in and on the said ceded lands
and territory, (so far as that all civil and criminal
process, as may issue under the authority of this
State, against any person or persons charged with
crimes committed without said lands and ceded terri-
tory, may be executed therein in the same way and
manner as though this grant and cession had never
been made, except so far as such process may affect
the real and personal property of the United States
within the said ceded lands and territory.)
SEC. 2. And he it enacted, That the lands and terri-
tory over which the jurisdiction is ceded by this Act,
together with all personal property which may here-
after be within the bounds thereof belonging to the
United States, or to any of the officers or agents of
the United States, shall be exonerated and dis-
charged from all taxes and assessments which may
be at any time imposed by the authority of this State,
when and so long as the said lands and territory are
and shall remain the property of the United States,
.and be used for the purposes aforesaid.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That no license that may
hereafter be granted under authority of this State,
for the taking or catching oysters or fish within the
waters of the State, shall authorize the holder thereof
to fish. or oyster within the limits of the grant made
by this Act.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the dote of its passage.
