counties are empowered to fill any vacancies which
may exist or which may occur in the present Boards
of County School Commissioners.
SEC. 2. Schools on or near the dividing line of
two counties shall be free to the children of each
county; and the Board of County School Commis-
sioners of the respective counties shall have power
to provide jointly for the maintenance of said schools.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That all the sections of
the several articles of the Code of Public General
Laws relating to schools, inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this Act, and all Acts of Assembly passed
since the adoption of said volumes of the Code rela-
ting to schools, inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 378.
AN ACT to in corporate the National Railroad Com-
pany of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be It enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the name and style of this company
shall be the National Railroad Company of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the object of this
company shall be to connect Washington and Harris-
burg through or near Brookville, by the most feasible
and direct railroad communication practicable.
SEC. 3. And be it exacted. That the capital stock
of said company shall be three millions of dollars,
divided into sixty thousand shares of fifty dollars each.
SEC. 4. And lie it enacted. That Benjamin Lounds
Jackson, Henry D. Cook, and A. R. Sheppard, of
