or received at the said principal office and at each of
the said subordinate offices; and if the one per cen-
tum of said gross earnings so charged or received,
as aforesaid, shall exceed the price of the license or'
licenses issued on account of said company or asso-
ciation, as aforesaid, there shall be paid into the
Treasury, before taking out the license or licenses for
or on account of said company or association for the
ensuing year, the whole excess of such one per cen-
tum over and above the price of said license or
licenses, as aforesaid.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That if any such
company or association shall desire to transact
business in this State, and shall have no principal
(office within the State to which the other officers of
said company or association to make application, shall
be subordinate, and shall have no principal,) agent to
whom the other agents of said company or associa-
tion within this State shall be compelled to account,
then and in that event it shall be the duty of each
and every agent of such company or association to;
make application to the Comptroller for license to
transact the business of the said company, at the office
or place of business where said agent may be em-
ployed, or may desire to transact business as afore-
said, and at the time of making said application, and
before license shall be issued, such agent shall pay
to the Comptroller the sum of three hundred dol-
lars if the office at which such agent is to transact
the business of the said company or association be
located in the City of Baltimore, and the sum of twenty
dollars if such office be located in any of the counties
of this State outside of said city.
SEC. 7. And he it further enacted, That every such '
agent of any such company or association, as shall'
have no principal office in this State as aforesaid,
shall annually, on the first day of June, report under
oath to the Comptroller the whole amount of earn-
ings charged or received by or on account of such
company or association, for business done at the
office or place of business of such agent for the year
or part of a year ending on the proceeding thirty-first
day of December, and if the one per centum of said
