tion list to obtain a vote for Mayor, Aldermen, or a
member of the Common Council, or for any other
purpose, in any election held by or under the muni-
cipal authority of Frederick city, in any of the said
wards, shall be deemed guilty of the crime of perjury,
and shall he liable to presentment and indictment
therefor in the Circuit Court for Frederick county,'
and on conviction thereof shall be fined not less than
one hundred nor more than one thousand dollars, or
be confined in the Penitentiary [house] of the State
for not exceeding; seven years; and shall forever there-
after be disqualified from holding any office of profit
or trust created under the corporation of Frederick
city, or to vote at any election thereafter held for
Mayor, Aldermen, or member of the Common Coun-
cil, or held by or under the municipal authority of
Frederick city for any other purpose.
SUB-SEC. 3. Each of said officers of registration,
before entering upon the discharge of his duties, shall
qualify before the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Frederick county; by taking and subscribing the oath
prescribed in the sixth section of the first article of
the Constitution.
SUB-SEC. 4. The Register of the City of Frederick
shall have a book of registration prepared for the
officer of registration for each of said wards, and the
said Look shall be so ruled or printed as to enable
the officer of registration to designate by the street,
lane or alley, or other local description, the residence
of every person who shall register and bo entitled to
vote in the said ward for Mayor, Aldermen, or Com-
mon Conn oilmen, or for any other purpose, at any
election held by or under the municipal authority of
Frederick city; and the said officer of registration
shall, after advertisement inserted once a week for
two weeks in at least one newspaper published in
Frederick city, and by hand-bills, or such other
notice as he may deem proper of his intention so to
do, proceed at some convenient place in his ward, to
be designated in his said advertisement, at the hour
of nine o'clock in .the morning, on the third Monday
of January, and annually thereafter, to open said
book of registration and the same keep open until
