LAWS OF MARYLAND.
CHAPTER 308.
AN ACT to declare the sanction of the General As-
sembly of Maryland to the bequests of John Coates,
late of Baltimore city, deceased, to the trustees of
the Methodist Protestant Church, corner of Lom-
bard and. Green streets, in the City of Baltimore.
WHEREAS, John Coates, late of Baltimore city,
deceased, by his last will and testament, duly admitted
to probate and recorded in the Office of Register of
Wills of said city, bequeathed unto the trustees of
the Methodist Protestant Church, corner of Lombard
and Green streets, in said City of Baltimore, the
sum of three thousand dollars, from and after the
death of his wife, Lucretia Coates, the object of
which bequest is for the purpose of purchasing out
the ground rent of said church, and not to be
devoted to any other purpose, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sanction of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, be and the same is hereby given
and declared to the above mentioned* of the said
John Coates, deceased.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 309.
AN ACT to authorize the Comptroller to audit and
settle the claims of Catherine Middleton and Sarah
Ann Johnson.
[SUCTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Comptroller be and he is hereby
authorized and required to audit and settle the claim
of Catherine Middleton and Sarah Ann Johnson,
