porate, severally entitled thereto, and that the several
public officers to whom the same or any part thereof
may be paid, shall render quarterly, to the Comptrol-
ler, accounts of the expenditures thereof, with the
proper vouchers thereof, and verified by affidavits.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 253.
AN" ACT making further appropriations for the
support of the Goverment for the year to end De-
cember thirty-first, eighteen hundred and seventy-
three.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the expenditures in the support
of the Government for the year ending on the thirty-
first day of December, in the year eighteen hundred
and seventy-three, the following sums of money, or
so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the
same are hereby appropriated; that is to say:
SCHOOLS.
To the several counties of tills State, and to Balti-
more city, to be appropriated as the Legislature may
direct, five hundred and twenty-five thousand dol-
lars, or whatever sum may be paid into the treasury
on account of the levy of Public School Tax, and for
the Free School Fund, including the bonus from
banks, dividends from stocks standing to the credit
of the Free School Fund, and so much of the reve-
nue from the Washington Branch of the "Baltimore
and Ohio Railroad as has been substituted for the
surplus revenue, to the several counties and Balti-
more city for the education of the colored children,
