SEC. 21. And be it enacted. That the said corporation
shall not at any time issue any note, certificate or
other device to be circulated as currency.
SEC. 22. And be. it enacted. That all fines and for-
feitures imposed by the ordinances of the said cor-
poration shall be recoverable before the Burgess of
said town, or any Justice of the Peace of Washing-
ton county, but no fine or forfeiture imposed under
any ordinance of said corporation shall exceed the
sum of twenty dollars.
SEC. 23. And be it enacted. That the Burgess and
Commissioners of said town may take up and im-
pound any stock running at large in said town,
whether they belong to the citizens of the said town
or not, under such regulations as they may prescribe;
and the Sheriff" of Washington county shall receive
and safe keep, in the jail of said county, all persons
who shall be committed by the Burgess and Com-
missioners of said town to said jail for a breach or a
violation of any of the ordinances of the said cor-
poration, according to the time of the commitment,
and in the same manner and under the same regu-
lations as persons committed for a violation of the
laws of this State.
SEC. 24. And be It enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT making further appropriation for the sup-
port of the Government, for the year to end Decem-
ber the thirty-first, eighteen hundred and seventy-
two.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the expenditures in the support
