their discretion, to levy upon the assessable property
of said county a sum of money sufficient to defray
the expense of the construction of "Fish Ways," or
ladders, to facilitate the passage of fish over the mill
dams at Greenfeild Mills and Buckeystown, on the
Monocacy River, in said county; said ways to be
constructed under the direction of such person or
persons as may be designated by said County Com-
missioners.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 239.
AX ACT to incorporate the Butchers' and Drovers'
Bank of Baltimore.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of.
Maryland That Lewis Turner, Sr., Frederick Laib,
Lewis V. Wise, Michael Albert, James Owens, Lewis
Turner, Jr., John C. Knoblack, John A. Cadori,
Frederick Cook, George Rose, Charles Kriel, Henry
Keifie, and J. Henry Snyder of Charles, and the
subscribers to the stock of the corporation, be and
they are hereby declared to be a body politic and
corporate, by the name and style of the " Butchers'
and Drovers' Bank of Baltimore," and by that name
shall have perpetual succession, and be capable in
law to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, an-
swer and be answered, defend and be defended in
all courts of law and equity, or elsewhere; to make
and use a common seal, and the same to alter and
renew; to purchase,, hold and dispose of real, lease-
hold or personal property, and to advance money to
its members or others for a like purpose; to borrow
money and create loans for the purpose of advancing
upon buildings and lands, and for such other pur-
poses as may' promote the interests of the corpora-
