ure and sale for said taxes, as the property of indi-
vidual tax payers is liable under the laws of tins State.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That for the pur-
pose of said assessment, the returns made under oath
to the Comptroller of the Currency of the United
States, at Washington, of the loans and discounts of
said Bank in each year of said years for -which said
taxes may be due and unpaid, as aforesaid, shall be
taken and considered as conclusive evidence of the
amount of securities belonging to said Bank in said
year, and on which taxes are to be assessed, as afore-
said, and the same may be taken from the printed
returns contained in the report of said Comptroller
of the Currency, as published by the authority of the
Government of the United States. >
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the Comp-
troller may, in his discretion, remit the interest on
the amount of taxes due and in arrear from any of
the said Banks or Banking Associations, provided,
the principal sum so due from said Bank or Banking
Association be paid into the Treasury on or before
the first day of June next.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 238.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners.
of Frederick county, at their discretion, to make
an appropriation for the purpose of constructing
" Fish Ways" in the Monocacy River.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assemble of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Fred-
erick county be and they are hereby authorized, in
