LAWS OF MARYLAND.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the lands conveyed
as aforesaid, and over which the jurisdiction is
granted by this Act, together with all personal prop-
erty, which may hereafter be within the bounds
thereof belonging to the United States, or to any of
the officers or agents of the United States, shall be
exhonorated and discharged from all taxes and
assessments, which may be at any time imposed by
the authority of this State, so long as the said lands
are and shall remain the property of the United
States, and be used for the purposes aforesaid.
SEC. 8, And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 174.
AN ACT to incorporate the town of Union Bridge,
in Carrol 1 county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the citizens and inhabitants of the
town of Union Bridge in Carroll county, are a body
corporate by the name of " The Mayor and Common
Council of the town of Union Bridge," and by that
name shall be able and capable in law to sue and
be sued, plead and be impleaded in any court of law
or of equity, and shall have perpetual succession, and
may make all by-laws necessary for the purposes
herein mentioned.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the corporate bounds
and limits of tire said town of Union Bridge shall em-
brace all the lots and lands and premises in said
town, which are now built upon and improved, and
all lands lard out into lots, for the purposes of being
built thereupon, together with all such contiguous
grounds as the owner or owners thereof may desire
to have embraced within the same. And the first
elected Mayor and Common Council shall cause a
