dollars each for every dog belonging to, or kept by
any of the inhabitants of the town, to be recovered
and collected as other taxes, and shall compel the
bailiff to kill every dog within the town whose
owner cannot be ascertained, or whose ostensible
owner shall evade the payment of the tax.
SEC. 20. And he it enacted, That the said commis-
sioners may cause any of the streets and alleys in
said town to be paved whenever and in such man-
ner as they shall think proper.
SEC. 21. And be it emu-fed, That the bailiff of the.
town shall he the supervisor of streets, lanes and
alleys of said town, and for neglect of duty shall be
liable to be proceeded against, fined and punished
as supervisors of roads in said county; and the bailiff
of the town shall keep the lanes, streets and alleys
in repair under the direction and control of the com-
missioners.
SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That the limits of said
town shall he defined as beginning at a post on the
lower point of " Great Cove," on Little Annamessix
River, and thence running southwardly by a direct
line to a post on " Long Point," on said river, and
thence eastward across said river to a post, on what
is known as " Hammock Point," and thence by a
direct line to J. H. Sterling's house, on the Cove
road, and thence northward by a direct line to
"Lankford's Ditch," thence by and with said ditch
to the river, and to the place of beginning, a plat of
which shall be made out under the direction of the
commissioners of said town, and filed in the office
of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Somerset
county, to be there recorded.
SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That if land or other
property shall be condemned in the extension of the
limits of said town, or in opening new streets, lanes,
or alleys, or in widening or extending existing
streets, lanes or alleys, or for any other uses or
purposes, of the said town, and the owner or
owners of said property cannot agree with the com-
missioners, as to the value thereof, or the owner or
owners of said property are married women, under
