LAWS OF MARYLAND.
and seventy, entitled "an Act to authorize the
County Commissioners of Harford county to sell a
part of the Poorhouse farm, and to erect suitable
buildings for the use of the paupers of said county,
and to levy a sum of money for that purpose," lie
and the same is hereby repealed, amended and re-
enacted, so as to read as follows:
1. And be it enacted. That the County Commission-
ers of Harford county be and they are hereby autho-
rized and empowered, in their discretion, to sell,
either at private or public sale, either hi whole, or in
lots, or parcels, as they in their judgment may deem
best for the interest of said county, and upon such terms
as they may deem most expedient, all that part of
the land or farm situated in Harford county, called
or known as the Almshouse or Pool-house farm of
Harford county, which lies on the northern side of
the Public road which leads from Walters' mill to
the Harford turnpike, and the said County Commis-
sioners are hereby empowered, upon the payment of
the purchase money, to convey by deed to the pur-
chaser or purchasers of said land, the entire interest
of Harford county in and to the same; provided, that
nothing in this Act shall be so construed as to com-
pel the said County Commissioners to sell the land
they are hereby authorized and empowered to sell,
but they are to sell only in their discretion.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said County
Commissioners are also authorized and empowered
to expend, in a judicious manner, the proceeds of
the sales of the land, which they are herein autho-
rized and empowered to sell, in the erection of suit-
able buildings on or near the present site of the
Almshouse of Harford county, for the use and accom-
modation of the paupers of said county, and in their
discretion to levy, at their next annual levy, the sum
of five thousand dollars, or so much thereof as in
their judgment may be necessary, on the assessable
property of said county, to be expended by said Com-
missioners, in addition to the proceeds of the sales
of the land they are herein authorized and empow-
ered to sell, in the erection of said Almshouse
buildings.
