(hereafter to be appointed) to introduce a bill to punish
larceny by bailees.
On motion of Mr. Chaisty,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Inspections (here-
after to be appointed) to introduce a bill to repeal the Act of
1870, chapter 418, abolishing certain inspections from the
1st of May, 1872.
On Motion of Mr. dark,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary-
(hereafter to be appointed) to introduce a bill to authorize
the proprietors of Greenmount Cemetery to increase the per-
manent fund for the maintenance thereof.
On motion of Mr. Streett,
Leave was granted to the Harford delegation to introduce
a bill to authorize the County Commissioners of Harford
County to subscribe to the capital stock of the Maryland Cen-
tral Railroad.
The Speaker laid before the House the communication of
L. Giddings, Esq., in reference to the printed copies of the
Report of the Board of State School Commissioners, now in
his possession.

Said copies of the report were ordered to be distributed to
the members of the House.
Richard C. Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, delivered

Annapolis, January 9, 1872. )
Gentlemen of the General Assembly :
I submit, for your action, the report of the agents appoint-
ed by me, as mentioned in my Executive message, to prepare
and present the claims of the State against the Federal Gov-
ernment for moneyed advances made during the war.
I cannot too strongly urge your careful consideration of
this matter, as I doubt not the claims of the State, properly
made up, will aggregate a large sum.

BALTIMORE, December 5th, 1871.

Governor of Maryland:
SIR—The undersigned having been requested to inform your
