' 24 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 5, BY THE SENATE, January 5th,1872. Gentlemen of the House of Delegates ; We have received your message, informing us of the ap- pointment of a Joint Committee—three on the part of the House and two on the part of the Senate—to wait on his Ex- cellency the Governor elect, and request his attendance on Wednesday, the 10th inst., at 2 o'clock, P. M., in the Senate Chamber, to qualify according to the Constitution and form of government of the State, and respectfully non-concur therein. We would suggest a Committee of five to inform the Gov- ernor elect officially, by written communication, of his elec- tion, and on his arrival at Annapolis, to wait upon him, in conjunction with the Committee of Arrangements of the Senate, already appointed, and escort him to the Senate. We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Earle and Compton. By order, A. GASSAWAY, Secretary. ' Which was read. Mr. Chapman submitted the following message : BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, January 5, 1872. Gentlemen of the Senate : We have received your message, proposing the appoint- ment of a Joint Committee, to communicate with His Excel- lency the Governor elect, &c., and respectfully concur therein. We have. appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Chap- man, Eareckson, and Routzahn. By order, MILTON Y.' KIDD, Chief Clerk. Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate. On. motion of Mr. Kirk, At 2 3/4 o'clock, P. M,, the House adjourned, until Tuesday next at 12 o'clock, noon. |
