The House bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 82, 83,
84, 85 and 87, of Article XI. of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title "Frederick City," and to enact the following in
lieu thereof.
Being on a third reading,
Mr. Steiner, submitted the following amendments :
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Page 1, section 1, line 2, strike out "eighty-two," and
substitute "eighty-nine," for "eighty-seven."
Strike out all from beginning of "section 82," in middle
of page 1, down to sub-section 1, on page 5, and substitute
the following :
"83. All male citizens of Maryland above the age of
twenty-one years, possessing the qualifications hereinafter
mentioned, and who shall be first duly registered, as pre-
scribed in the subsequent sections and sub-sections of this.
Act, shall be entitled to vote for Mayor, Aldermen and a
member of the Common Council, as hereinafter directed.
All elections shall be by ballot, and no person shall be en-
titled to vote at any election, who is not duly registered as
hereinafter required."
"84. The citizens of said city, qualified as mentioned in
the preceding section, and as hereafter provided for, shall,
on the last Monday in February, in every third year, elect
the Mayor and five Aldermen for said City; the election shall
be held at the polling places in the different wards where
the elections for members of the Common Council are held."
"85. The citizens of each ward, qualified as prescribed in
section 83, and duly registered as hereinafter required, shall
annually, on the last Monday in February, elect one member
for the Common Council of said City."
"89 All elections shall be held by such Judge or Judges,
and in such manner, as shall be directed from time to time,
by ordinance of the Corporation not inconsistent with the
provisions of this Act."
